Anthony Brennan, CEO, Zurich Life

Anthony is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland and CEO of Zurich Life Assurance plc, Ireland. With Zurich since 1985, Anthony has over 25 years practical experience in managing Finance, IT and Operations in one of Ireland's most successful life insurance companies. Zurich Life, Ireland offers a full range of Life, Pension, Investment and Protection products and is responsible for funds under management of approximately €11 billion, of which pension assets amount to €6.3 billion (as at 30th June 2011). Zurich employs over 1,000 people across its businesses in Ireland.

Prior to his appointment as CEO, Zurich Life, Ireland in September 2009, Anthony has held a number of senior  positions during the course of his career with Zurich Life, including Appointed Actuary with additional responsibility for the business’s Risk and Compliance function, Finance & IT Director and Chief Operating Officer.  As CEO, Zurich Life, Ireland, Anthony has been responsible for Zurich’s continued growth in both Ireland and other key European markets, including Germany, the UK and Italy.

Zurich Life has grown organically into an established top three player in the competitive life insurance market in Ireland and also expanded into several European markets.  Anthony Brennan, CEO Ireland, Zurich Life Assurance plc, shares his insights into how this has been achieved against a tough economic background and talks about the challenges ahead.
