John Delaney, CEO of the FAI will discuss the transformation of the FAI in a business and sporting context in an exciting period for the association, which sees it become joint owner of Aviva Stadium and winners of the bid to host the 2011 UEFA Europa League final.

A chartered accountant by profession, he is a son of former FAI honorary treasurer and ex-Waterford United chairman, Joe Delaney. John Delaney became the Waterford United delegate to the League of Ireland and FAI in 1997 and was elected to the League’s Board of Control the following year.

John Delaney became the youngest ever Chief Executive of the Football Association of Ireland in November, 2004 and has overseen massive changes in the organisation since then in addition to being at the forefront of the plans to build the new Aviva Stadium.

A member of a UEFA Committee, John is also vice President of the Olympic Council of Ireland.
