Guidelines for Goal Setting

Smart Goals:

Specific: Clearly defining the desired result.

Measurable: So there is no doubt when it is achieved.

Agreed: By all people involved and part of an individual's performance management.

Realistic: Both possible and probable that it will be
1. Achieved, but with an element of
2. Challenge that encourages you to make
3. The extra effort and do your best.

Time based: Otherwise you can be tempted to
1. Postpone the tasks necessary for achievement.

For me: Important to you so it has a high priority.

Example:
I want to lose weight - is not a goal
I want to weigh 11 stone by 1 December this year so that I can wear my party clothes - is a goal.
